FAQ’s
-
SAT
2 hours and 14 minutes exam
Math only goes through Algebra 2/Trig
Inconsistent curving (first question missed could cost 10-80 points)
The test is new, so there could be a lot of changes from test to test. Variability makes it so that you must over-prepare for all possible instances.
Must study vocabulary! (On the plus side, this helps immensely with college readiness!)
ACT
2 hours and 55 minutes exam
Math tests through pre-calculus (at most basic questions on vectors, matrices, etc.)
Has a science section (will be optional 2025, but technically, these things aren’t optional when it comes to college apps!)
More problems per section mean that mistakes are forgiven more (you can still potentially score a 36 with missing 1-2 problems in a section)
The current version has been around longer, so what you get on the official test day is within expectations
Can use strategies to get around a weaker vocabulary
